Alomide (Lodoxamine) is a mast cell stabilizer used to treat itchy or irritated eyes. Alomide is a sterile ophthalmic solution containing the mast cell stabilizer lodoxamide tromethamine for topical administration to the eyes. Lodoxamide tromethamine is a white, crystalline, water-soluble powder with a molecular weight of 553.91.

Alomide side effects, that may go away during treatment include mild stinging or burning, blurred vision, dry eye, tearing, or headache. If they continue or are bothersome, contact your doctor. If you notice other Alomide side effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Follow the directions for using Alomide provided by your doctor. To use Alomide (Lodoxamine): first, wash your hands. Tilt your head back and with your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Drop the ALOMIDE (Lodoxamine) into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Do not blink and keep your eyes closed for 1 or 2 minutes. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. TO PREVENT GERMS from entering your ALOMIDE (Lodoxamine) eye drops, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface including your eye. STORE ALOMIDE (Lodoxamine) at room temperature, away from heat and light. Keep the container tightly closed. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF ALOMIDE (Lodoxamine), use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
