Estratest and Estratest H.S. are indicated for the management of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause in patients who do not respond to estrogens alone. They combine Esterified Estrogens (a type of estrogen) with Methyltestosterone (a type of androgen) in one pill. Estrogen-containing products should not be used to prevent heart disease.

Estrogens should not be used in patients with known or suspected pregnancy, breast cancer, active thrombophlebitis, or thromboembolic disorders. Methyltestosterone is contraindicated in pregnant and lactating women, and patients with severe liver damage. Methyltestosterone should be prescribed with caution in women with a current or past history of hyperandrogenic states. The most commonly reported adverse events are those typical of estrogen therapy (such as breast tenderness, headache, nausea, edema and abdominal pain) and of androgen treatment (including alopecia, acne, and hirsutism).

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience mental/mood changes (e.g., severe depression, memory loss); breakthrough bleeding, spotting, or change in menstrual periods; breast tenderness; difficulty wearing contact lenses; facial hair; weight change; swelling of fingers or ankles; changes in vision. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience calf/leg pain or swelling; trouble breathing or shortness of breath; chest pain; one-sided weakness; slurred speech; lumps in the breast; sudden severe headache, dizziness, or fainting; yellowing of the skin or eyes; dark urine; or abdominal pain, swelling, or tenderness; vomiting; or coughing up blood. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
