Lumiracoxib is used to treat adults with osteoarthritis. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication which reduces pain and swelling due to osteoarthritis. Lumiracoxib does not cure or prevent osteoarthritis, however it is only used to relieve immediate pain and reduce the swelling.
Lumiracoxib comes in a 100mg tablet form which can be taken with or without food. It is recommended that these tablets are not chewed or crushed, they should be swallowed whole.
Side effects are increased when Lumiracoxib is used for an extended period of time or if it is used in large doses. Some side effects include drowsiness, light headed, pain or difficulty urinating, and swelling of the feet or lower legs, in which case you should contact your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. You should stop taking Lumiracoxib and contact your doctor as soon as possible, if you experience any of the following severe side effects: bloody or black tarry stools, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, skin rashes, hives, swelling or itching, blurred vision, and change in urine color.
